5-minute makeover for busy mommies

Here's something I picked up on CityLine. I love that show! I have it on every morning as I eat breakfast and nurse my Ollipop.
Side note: I nurse Oliver with a bowl or a plate hovering over his head.
Here's a 5-minute makeover that works wonderfully!
Before...

First I made my world-known bun. I do not brush my hair; I like it looking messy.
After washing my face, I put on Physicians Formula Organic Wear tinted moisturizer to even out the skin. Then I applied MAC Cream Color Base in Vintage Rose onto my cheeks. It's an amazing product; you can use it as a blush, eye shadow and on lips! Make sure you smile as you're putting blush on and circle around your cheek bones, then go towards your ears.
Then I put some on my lips. Btw, I did everything with my fingertips. For eyes, I used another color called Dusk. I combed my eyebrows and applied two coats of Physicians Formula Organic Wear mascara. Since I did not put any eye liner on, I made sure I looked down and wiggled the mascara brush as I was applying it. That way mascara goes into the root of your eye lashes and gives eyes definition.
Voila!

Time elapsed: 5 minutes.
Ready to face the world!

Highlights of week 10 (that's how old Oliver is now)

Monday
Oliver got his first shots. We stayed at the doctor's for two freakin hours!
First we waited for half an hour... barefoot. Everyone has to take their shoes off outside the waiting room door; kids playing on the floor and all. The hallway outside looked like a stroller parking lot / mosque entrance. After they called Oliver's name, we waited 10 minutes for a nurse to come in and measure him, then another 20 for a resident to measure him again and ask textbook questions, and then another half-hour for the doctor to come in. Olster got two shots, one in each thigh. It was a
'1-2-3-go' venture done by the doctor and the resident together, resulting in a purple face, mouth wide open and no sound coming out for about 10 seconds. But it had to be done, and all in all it went well, no fever or any other side affects, and I didn't get a parking ticket.
Later that day, we took a trip to Vaughn Mills with Lia and baby Julian. It's a trip alright, considering we live downtown. I don't mind driving, especially since Oliver likes sleeping in the car seat, but be warned - you are bound to get stuck in traffic... somewhere... regardless of what time of day it is or your GPS. We got stuck on DVP. My advice: pack up a few energy bars, water and coffee (but don't drink too much because you don't want to pee before you get there especially if you're alone with the baby), turn the radio on (having XM helps in times like this) and don't stress. Easy for me to say, with Olster snoring in the back.
Shopping was fun, and it was great to spend time with a friend.

Tuesday
We took a 'mommy and baby' bootcamp class.
http://www.fitfamily.ca/bellybootcamp/bellyindex.html
'Mommy exercising and baby sleeping' class.
Or 'mommy left her pride in a puddle of sweat' class.
It was good though. I was sore for three days.
Tuesday was also Valentine's Day, and I was alone with my babies. Nick went to a basketball game; he got a ticket at work for the TD box and really wanted to go. Everything was fine until bedtime when I found myself surrounded by two crying creatures. Oliver was sleepy but couldn't settle down and Julia wanted her daddy... So all three of us (and five stuffed animals) snuggled in the big bed and fell asleep fast - problem solved.

Wednesday
We had coffee with my aunt and visited friends at lululemon at the Eaton Centre.

That's about it...

What happened to new posts?

So I have this blog but I'm not writing new posts. All the ideas are in my head but my head is in bed with Oliver, or outside walking Oliver so he would sleep in his stroller, or fighting with Julia over what not to wear to school, or making dinner...
At this very moment I'm on the bed with Oliver trying to type this text with one finger on my iPhone while hugging him and holding a pacifier in his mouth so it doesn't fall out because he wakes up every time it does. See the pic? No flash of course, don't want to risk waking him up.
I need an iPad. Heck, I deserve one!

So, my followers, I am committed to publishing new posts! Don't give up on me yet; I promise to keep you entertained with my everyday life on mat leave!

Thank you God… And please do not call child services

OK, this is what happened: Oliver and I are going out. We’re all set; he’s in his car seat and I’m grabbing my bag and putting a water bottle (full of water) in the outside pocket of the duffel. I pick up the car seat, walk out the door and as I’m locking it, Oliver starts to cry. I put the seat on the floor, bend down to give him his pacifier, and as I swing the bag towards my back, the water bottle flies out of the pocket and lands ¼ of an inch above Olster’s head.

OMG… I almost killed my baby!

Note to self: No heavy objects in exterior pockets!

Update on the pocket situation

Note to self part 2: No phone in the exterior pockets. My iPhone fell out three times today.

Introduction

Everyone has a blog these days.
It’s hip, it’s fun, and it’s a great and fast way to exchange information.
So here’s my blog. What do I have to say? What wisdom will I convey?
Well, I wish to tell new mommies that their lives do not need to stop just because they had babies. They do not need to let themselves go. There are so many fun things they can do with their babies: exercise, go to the movies, hit shopping malls, have coffee dates with friends, meet a lot of other mommies… even have their hair done because babies love the sound of blow dryer. Or sometimes just cuddle up and nap.
Having a baby changes your life forever.
But the more relaxed you are, the smoother the ride will be.
Happy mom = Happy baby
Here comes the wisdom part:
Take things as they come and embrace every moment with gratitude.

Namaste
